And than came the second tape. "Nobody Is Perfect" was recorded at the same place as the debut - only seven months later, in September 1988. It was the rehearsal room at the Auenstrasse (today known as Hinrichsenstrasse in the "Waldstrassenviertel" Leipzig), a backyard building ready to be demolished. No water. But electricity (if you know how to deal it). It was complete illegal, but the usual way in those days.

Recording time were only two days, because it was dangerous to leave the equipment in the empty old house for a longer time. An unsafe place. In case of a theft, nobody would be able to help. The equipment was the same like the last time, maybe some more microphones, a bigger snare drum and some new effect pedals. They worked without multitracking, because such equipment was not available for independent bands in the GDR. They used a 6-channel-mono-mixer Vermona Regent 1060 (Made in GDR!) and a Normal-Tape-Deck-Recorder (JVC Cassete Deck KD-D2). And that’s all. No overdubs. All the recordings are live-recordings from the rehearsal. (More infos you will found here: bandpostcards.de?p=595)

REAL DEAL was founded in autumn 1987 in Leipzig. Before they had split, in June 1989, they had released four tapes. In those days there were no independent recordlabels in the GDR, and AMIGA, the only existing major-poplabel was controled by the government. Many of independent and underground musicians recorded their own songs in homestudios or rehearsal-sessions. In fact: The tape was the record of the underground-music-scene in East Germany. Also the covers were hand-made.
